The stainless steel canner can be used as either a steam or water bath canner. The indicator on the lid tells exactly when to start processing time. Steam canning jar capacity: 9 pints, 8 quarts, or 5 half gallons. Water bath canning jar capacity: 8 pints or 7 quarts. Note: NOT FOR USE ON SMOOTH-TOP RANGES.
